Bozo has insisted for years we should just cut and run.
He even campaigned on getting the heck out of Afghanistan and much of the rest of the Middle East, while also insisting, rather incoherently, that we should absolutely crush ISIS, and fight terrorism everywhere.
He is expected tonight to announce troop increases for Afghanistan.
The generals' argument is always to state the alternative.
If we leave, the Taliban will take over the country again and the whole place will go back into the business of exporting terrorism against us and our allies.
Years ago, George Will suggested we remove our ground troops and use seaborne air power against terrorists, their training areas, etc.
No sale, for whatever reason.
In 2008 somebody asked John McCain when the war in Afghanistan would be over.
He shrugged and said maybe a hundred years.
He may be the only politician who ever spoke realistically and honestly about Afghanistan.
Come to that, in a discussion of the disappearance of high paying manufacturing jobs in steel, coal, and auto making he was asked what could be done to bring them back.
He said those jobs were not coming back, ever.
He lost that election.
