The foreign policy outlook of the left

Points on which the professional and radical left are united, usually along with liberals tied to or supportive of the Democratic Party.

Oppose any war, if not at first then after a while, regardless of which party was in power when it started or is in power as it continues.

Denounce anything resembling a war crime committed by our side, especially our troops and especially those of whatever nation (if any) we are defending or assisting.

Denounce friendly governments for dictatorship, economic injustice, human rights violations, lapses of democracy, failures to live up to the ideals of feminists and anti-racists, and torture, as appropriate – especially any whose survival we are fighting to ensure.

Oppose any intervention aimed at securing or defending American interests or that can be portrayed as such.

Denounce any intervention you oppose for serving corporate interests or those of the military-industrial-complex.

Insist on altruistic military interventions, preferably when they actually harm our interests quite apart from the direct costs of war in blood and treasure, but only with lots of allies and whenever possible with UN support.

In any conflict pitting a friendly government against communist or radical rebels of any stipe, oppose the government and any support we might give it.

In any conflict pitting an unfriendly communist or radical government of any stripe against friendly rebels oppose the rebels and any support we might give them.

Points on which the radical left on the one side and liberals allied to or supportive of the Democratic Party are opposed, with the professional left split or going back and forth.

NATO and the entire panoply of global cold war alliances are supported by the latter and generally opposed by the former.

The entire project of American liberal globalism.
