Treason? Well, no.



Of course, your true cold warrior would have insisted it was Johnson who was the traitor, here, selling out the American effort in South Vietnam to hold the line against communism in order to smooth Humphrey’s path to the White House.

And Nixon the patriot and the hero.

But Johnson never much got along with Humphrey, anyway.

And as I heard it his price during most of the campaign for support for Humphrey – a price the Happy Warrior did pay – was that HH had to run as a hawk.

And who in his right mind would think LBJ incapable of a vengeful, poisonous lie?

Or Nixon incapable of such back-channel sabotage?

Just another bit of history we will never really know.

And who killed Kennedy, anyway?

And why?
